Practice Nurse

Wendy Baird RGN

Wendy is responsible for cervical smear tests and chronic disease management i.e. asthma clinics, diabetic clinics and heart disease clinics. She also does blood pressure monitoring, travel advice and immunisations, ear syringing and dressings. Wendy can also offer advice on weight management, diet and many other health related issues including smoking cessation. Please telephone to make an appointment. She is available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday afternoon and Friday mornings at Newton Stewart and Monday and Thursday morning at Kirkcowan.

Health Care Assistant

Fiona McCornick

Fiona's role enables her to take blood samples, blood pressure, height and weight, ECGs and administer Flu vaccinations. If one of the doctors asks you to make an appointment for a blood test you should make an appointment with Fiona. Fiona holds a clinic at Kirkcowan on Tuesday morning and Newton Stewart Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.

Phlebotomist

Jolene Black

Jolene has recently trained as a Phlebotomist. Her role enables her to take blood samples and she runs a clinic in Kirkcowan on a Friday morning as well as holiday cover for Fiona.

Community Nurses

Community Nursing Sister - Mrs Sian Eastley

The nurses can be contacted on (01671) 403744. They see patients who are house bound and who require input from the community nursing team, usually after hospital discharge or for palliative care.
